Growing Guide
Plant in a sunny position with well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells, particularly if grown in containers. Avoid overly rich soils, which can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
Removing spent blooms throughout the season helps encourage continued flowering and keeps plants looking fresh.
Wildlife
The open flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, making cosmos a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
Why We Love It
Few plants provide such a long-lasting display with such an effortless, natural appearance. Cosmos blends beautifully with ornamental grasses and late-summer perennials, while its flowers are equally valuable for cutting and bringing indoors.
