Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans' – Supplied in a P14 Pot

Plant Highlights: Delicate, feathery fronds • Soft, elegant foliage • Thrives in humid indoor environments • Ideal for bright, indirect light • Adds graceful texture to indoor displays

Overview

Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans', commonly known as the Maidenhair Fern, is prized for its light, airy appearance. Its delicate, fan-shaped leaflets are carried on slender, dark stems, creating a soft, graceful display that complements both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Unlike many tougher houseplants, Maidenhair Fern prefers consistently moist compost and higher humidity, making it particularly well suited to naturally humid rooms such as bathrooms with good natural light. Given the right conditions, it rewards with fresh, lush growth throughout the year.

Growing Guide

Place in bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunshine, which can scorch the delicate fronds. Keep the compost consistently moist but never waterlogged, allowing only the surface to begin drying before watering again. This fern appreciates higher humidity, so it performs best in naturally humid rooms or where humidity is increased.

Feed with a diluted balanced houseplant fertiliser during the growing season according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Indoor Placement

Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans' is an excellent choice for bathrooms with natural daylight, where humidity helps keep the foliage fresh and healthy. It also grows well in bright living rooms and offices, provided it is kept away from radiators, heating vents and cold draughts.

Good to Know

Maidenhair Ferns dislike drying out completely and may shed their fronds if allowed to become too dry. With consistent moisture and humidity, fresh new growth will continue to emerge from the centre of the plant.
