Plant Highlights: Soft, delicate fern fronds • Graceful arching habit • Thrives in humid environments • Excellent for bright bathrooms and shaded indoor spaces
Overview
Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans', commonly known as the Maidenhair Fern, is an elegant indoor fern with fine black stems carrying masses of soft, fan-shaped bright green leaflets. Its light, airy appearance brings texture and freshness to interiors, making it a favourite for bathrooms, living spaces and home offices with suitable humidity.
Unlike many houseplants, Maidenhair Fern prefers consistently moist compost and higher humidity. Given the right conditions, it rewards with lush, fresh foliage throughout the year and makes a beautiful contrast to plants with larger or more architectural leaves.

Growing Guide
Indoor Placement
Position in bright, indirect light away from direct sunshine, which can scorch the delicate fronds. A naturally humid room such as a bathroom with a window is ideal. Avoid placing the plant near radiators, fireplaces or cold draughts.
Watering
Keep the compost consistently moist but never waterlogged. Do not allow the root ball to dry out completely, as this can cause the delicate fronds to brown and die back. Water when the surface of the compost begins to feel just slightly dry.
Humidity
High humidity is essential for healthy growth. Bathrooms and kitchens with natural light are excellent locations. In drier rooms, increasing humidity around the plant will help keep the foliage fresh.
Feeding
Apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser every four to six weeks during spring and summer at half the recommended strength.
