Overview
Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans', commonly known as the Maidenhair Fern, is a graceful indoor plant admired for its fine, feathery fronds carried on slender, dark stems. Its light, airy appearance brings softness and texture to interiors, making it a favourite for bathrooms, kitchens and other naturally humid spaces.
This compact fern is well suited to tabletops, shelves and plant displays where its delicate foliage can be appreciated up close. While it rewards consistent care with lush fresh growth, it performs best when protected from dry air and sudden changes in temperature.

Indoor Placement
Place in bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sun which can scorch the delicate fronds. High humidity is essential, making bathrooms and naturally humid kitchens ideal locations provided there is sufficient natural light. In living rooms or bedrooms, position the plant away from radiators, fireplaces, air conditioning units and cold draughts.
Growing Guide
Keep the compost consistently moist but never waterlogged. Allowing the root ball to dry out can quickly damage the delicate foliage. Water when the surface of the compost begins to feel slightly dry and maintain good humidity around the plant. Use a free-draining houseplant compost and avoid leaving the pot standing in water.
Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser at half strength during the growing season to encourage healthy new fronds.
Good to Know
Maidenhair Ferns appreciate stable conditions and dislike frequent movement or sudden changes in temperature and humidity. Remove any brown or damaged fronds at the base to keep the plant looking fresh and encourage new growth.
