Plant Highlights: Distinctive bicoloured flowers • Long flowering season • Strong upright stems • Excellent for borders, containers and cut flowers
Overview
Agapanthus 'Fireworks' is a striking African Lily grown for its large, rounded flower heads made up of elegant bicoloured florets. Each flower opens with deep violet-blue buds before revealing white petals with blue-purple stripes, creating a dramatic two-tone display throughout summer.
Its upright habit and bold flower heads add height and structure to sunny borders, while the long-lasting blooms also make excellent cut flowers. This eye-catching cultivar is equally at home in patio containers, gravel gardens and contemporary planting schemes.

Growing Guide
Plant in a sunny position where it will receive plenty of direct light for the best flowering. Grow in fertile, well-drained soil, avoiding sites that remain wet during winter. Agapanthus also performs exceptionally well in large containers filled with a free-draining compost.
Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells, particularly for container-grown plants. Feed during the growing season with a balanced fertiliser to encourage vigorous growth and abundant flowering.
Wildlife
The nectar-rich flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects, making this an excellent addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
Perfect For
- Sunny borders
- Patio containers
- Gravel gardens
- Coastal gardens
- Contemporary planting schemes
- Cut flower gardens
Seasonal Care
Remove spent flower stems once flowering has finished to keep the plant tidy. Leave the foliage in place until it naturally dies back or, if evergreen in mild conditions, remove only damaged leaves in spring. In colder or exposed parts of Ireland, container-grown plants benefit from winter protection.
