Growing Guide

Position

Place in bright, indirect light where the foliage is protected from strong direct sunshine. Too little light can reduce vigour, while prolonged direct sun may scorch the leaves.

Watering

Keep the compost evenly moist during active growth, allowing only the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler months but never allow the compost to remain waterlogged.

Compost

Grow in a rich, free-draining houseplant compost that retains moisture while allowing good air movement around the roots. A mix containing bark, perlite or similar drainage materials performs well.

Temperature and Humidity

Maintain temperatures between 18–27°C and protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C. Higher humidity encourages healthy foliage, making this plant well suited to bright bathrooms, kitchens or rooms with added humidity.

Routine Care

Feed monthly with a balanced houseplant fertiliser during spring and summer. Remove older yellowing leaves at the base as new growth develops and wipe the foliage occasionally to keep it free from dust.

Perfect For

  • Tropical houseplant collections.
  • Bright living rooms.
  • Home offices.
  • Plant shelves and display cabinets.
  • Contemporary interior planting.

Good to Know

Alocasia 'Jacklyn' may slow its growth during the darker winter months. This is a normal seasonal response, and watering should be reduced accordingly until active growth resumes in spring.
