Plant Highlights: Rich bronze-orange flowers with golden centres • Distinctive bronze-purple foliage • Exceptionally long flowering season • Excellent as a cut flower • Ideal for borders and large containers
Alstroemeria 'Indian Summer' is a striking herbaceous perennial, prized for its unusual combination of warm orange flowers and dark bronze-purple foliage. From early summer into autumn, sturdy stems carry clusters of vibrant, lily-like blooms above the colourful foliage, providing months of reliable colour in the garden.
Its upright, clump-forming habit makes it an excellent choice for mixed borders and patio containers, while the long-lasting flowers are outstanding for cutting, bringing colour indoors for many days.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil that retains moisture during the growing season. A sunny position encourages the best flowering, although light partial shade is also suitable. Water regularly while the plant is establishing and during prolonged dry periods, particularly in containers.
Apply a mulch in spring to help conserve soil moisture and feed with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The nectar-rich flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making this an excellent addition to wildlife-friendly planting.
Rather than cutting faded flower stems, gently pull them away from the base where possible to encourage the production of new flowering shoots. Leave the foliage in place until it dies back naturally, allowing the plant to store energy for the following season. In colder or more exposed parts of Ireland, a winter mulch can help protect the crown during severe frosts.
