Tillandsia Arrangement – Stage 1, Supplied in a 5 cm Pot

Plant Highlights: Decorative young air plant arrangement • Sculptural, strap-shaped foliage • Grows without traditional potting compost • Compact size for shelves and small displays • Best in bright, indirect light

Overview

This compact Tillandsia arrangement features a young air plant presented in a 5 cm pot. Tillandsias are epiphytic bromeliads that naturally absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves rather than relying on ordinary potting soil.

The exact species and foliage form may vary between arrangements. Each plant will have its own shape, texture and colouring, making it a distinctive addition to a shelf, desk or grouped indoor display. “Stage 1” refers to the supplier’s young plant stage and not to the plant’s eventual size.

Plant Details

Indoor Placement

Place in bright, indirect light with good air circulation. A position close to a bright window is suitable, but avoid prolonged harsh midday sun through glass.

Bathrooms and kitchens can provide useful humidity when they also have adequate natural light. Keep the plant away from radiators, fireplaces, cold draughts and enclosed positions with little airflow.

Growing Guide

Remove the plant from its decorative holder before watering if water could collect around the base. Soak or thoroughly wet the foliage using room-temperature water, then gently shake off the excess.

Allow the plant to dry fully, preferably upside down or on its side, before returning it to the arrangement. Water trapped between the leaves can cause the central rosette to rot. Watering frequency should be adjusted according to room temperature, light, humidity and airflow rather than following a rigid schedule.

Good to Know

This is a variable arrangement rather than a named Tillandsia species. Foliage shape, colour, mature dimensions and flowering characteristics will depend on the individual plant supplied.

Air plants are not planted in ordinary compost. Their holder is primarily decorative and should not remain filled with water.
