Astilbe (Mixed Varieties)
15cm nursery pot
Plant Highlights: Elegant feathery flower plumes • Attractive fern-like foliage • Excellent for shade and damp soils • Mixed flower colours • Pollinator friendly
Astilbe is a much-loved herbaceous perennial grown for its airy plumes of flowers and finely divided, fern-like foliage. This mixed selection offers a range of flower colours, with individual plants varying in shades such as white, pink, rose or red while sharing the same graceful habit and preference for cool, moisture-retentive conditions.
Flowering throughout summer, Astilbe brings colour, height and texture to partially shaded borders, woodland gardens and pond-side planting. The finely cut foliage provides attractive interest from spring until autumn, making these reliable perennials an excellent choice for brightening areas where many flowering plants struggle.

Plant in partial shade where the soil remains cool and consistently moist. It will also grow in full sun provided the soil does not dry out during the growing season.
Water regularly during the first growing season and continue to keep the soil evenly moist during dry spells. Astilbe performs best where the soil never becomes completely dry.
Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid dry, sandy soils, as prolonged drought reduces flowering and foliage quality.
Fully hardy throughout Ireland. The foliage dies back naturally in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Leave faded flower heads for winter interest if desired, then cut back old stems in late winter or early spring.
Apply a mulch of compost or well-rotted organic matter each spring to help conserve moisture and improve soil fertility. Divide established clumps every few years in spring to maintain vigour and flowering performance.
This is a mixed selection, so flower colour will vary between individual plants supplied. Astilbes perform best where the soil remains consistently moist, making them particularly valuable for areas of the garden that are difficult to keep colourful during summer.
