Overview
‘Thornless Evergreen’ is a classic, reliable blackberry that combines almost thornless canes with attractive, deeply cut evergreen foliage. It produces long, arching stems that can be trained on wires or along a fence, carrying masses of white blossom followed by glossy black berries.

How to Plant
Plant in Any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil; copes with clay if not waterlogged. in a position with Full sun or light shade; full sun gives the sweetest fruit.. Dig a generous planting hole, mix in organic matter, and water thoroughly after planting. Apply a mulch around the base to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

- Tie in new canes along horizontal wires during the growing season.
- After fruiting, cut out the canes that have borne fruit at ground level.
- Mulch annually with compost or well-rotted manure to support cropping.
Size & Growth Timeline
Canes typically grow 3–4m long within three seasons. With training, a single plant can cover a 3–4m fence run or arch in around 4–5 years.
Harvest
Fruit ripens from August into early autumn. Berries are excellent eaten fresh, frozen or used in crumbles, pies and jams.
