Overview
Nephrolepis exaltata 'Green Lady', commonly known as Boston Fern 'Green Lady', is a lush evergreen indoor fern with gracefully arching, finely divided fronds that create a full, fountain-like display. Its fresh green foliage brings soft texture and natural colour to interiors throughout the year, making it an excellent choice for both contemporary and traditional homes.
Its naturally spreading habit makes it particularly attractive on plant stands, shelves or in decorative pots where the elegant fronds can arch freely. It performs best in bright, indirect light with consistently moist compost and higher humidity, making it especially well suited to bright bathrooms, kitchens and other humid indoor spaces.

Growing Guide
Light
Position in bright, indirect light or light shade. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate fronds.
Watering
Keep the compost consistently lightly moist, allowing only the surface to begin drying before watering again. Never leave the pot standing in water, but avoid allowing the compost to dry out completely.
Compost
Grow in a moisture-retentive, free-draining houseplant compost with good drainage.
Humidity and Temperature
This fern thrives in higher humidity. A naturally bright bathroom or kitchen is ideal, or humidity can be increased by grouping plants together or placing the pot on a tray of damp pebbles. Keep away from radiators, fireplaces and cold draughts, as dry air can cause the frond tips to brown.
Feeding and Routine Care
Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser during the active growing season. Remove any damaged or brown fronds at the base to encourage fresh growth, and repot when the plant becomes root-bound.

Good to Know
'Green Lady' naturally develops a broad, arching habit and typically reaches around 50–75cm in both height and spread indoors when grown in suitable conditions. While regarded as non-toxic to cats and dogs, eating large amounts of the foliage may still cause mild digestive upset, so it is best to discourage pets from chewing the fronds.
