Overview

BugClear Ultra Vine Weevil Killer 480ml is a concentrated systemic and contact insecticide designed for controlling vine weevil larvae in container-grown ornamental plants.

Vine weevil larvae feed below the surface, damaging plant roots where they can be difficult to reach with conventional foliar sprays. BugClear Ultra is diluted with water and applied directly to the compost, working on contact with larvae in the growing medium while also being absorbed through the roots.

Once taken up by the plant, the systemic insecticide provides protection for up to 2 months and also controls several common above-ground pests, including whitefly, greenfly, blackfly, scale insects and mealybugs.

Active Substance

5g/L acetamiprid

BugClear Ultra Vine Weevil Killer combines contact and systemic action. Applied as a compost drench, it targets vine weevil larvae in the growing medium while the active substance is also taken up through the roots and distributed through the plant.

How to Use

Mixing

Shake the bottle well before use.

Using the measure provided, mix:

60ml BugClear Ultra Vine Weevil Killer with 1 litre of water.

Mix in a watering can or suitable mixing vessel.

Application

Pour the prepared solution evenly over the compost in the container, following the quantity guide on the product label for the relevant pot or container size.

1 litre of prepared solution treats 10 litres of compost.

At this dilution, the full 480ml pack makes 8 litres of prepared solution, sufficient to treat up to 80 litres of compost.

When to Use

For outdoor ornamental container plants, use from April to September.

For suitable indoor ornamental plants, the product can be used throughout the year.

Apply when vine weevil activity or symptoms are first detected. If another treatment is required, reapply after 8 weeks.

Apply a maximum of 2 treatments per year.

Good to Know

This is a concentrated compost-drench insecticide, not a ready-to-use foliar spray. It must be diluted before application.

Use only on the plants and in the growing situations permitted by the product label. Do not use on edible crops or directly in open garden soil.

Because the treatment works systemically, it can control pests feeding on above-ground parts of treated ornamental plants as well as vine weevil larvae around the roots.
