Plant in full sun or partial shade. A sheltered position helps protect the evergreen foliage from strong, drying winds and encourages even growth.
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a healthy root system. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly if grown in containers.
Grow in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid prolonged winter waterlogging.
Fully hardy throughout Ireland. Apply a spring mulch around the base to conserve moisture and improve soil structure, taking care not to cover the stem.
Trim once or twice during the growing season to maintain the crisp cone shape. Remove any shoots extending beyond the outline and any dead or damaged growth as required.
The supplied height of approximately 145cm refers to the plant at the time of sale and not its mature size. Regular light clipping will keep the cone dense, healthy and sharply defined.
