Plant Details

Growing Guide

Light

Position in bright, indirect light to maintain the richest leaf colour. Strong direct sunlight can scorch the foliage, while very low light may reduce the intensity of the leaf markings.

Watering

Keep the compost evenly moist during active growth but avoid waterlogging. Reduce watering as growth naturally slows and the foliage begins to die back towards dormancy.

Compost

Grow in a free-draining, moisture-retentive houseplant compost in a pot with good drainage. Repot during spring as new growth begins if the plant has outgrown its container.

Humidity and Temperature

Caladiums appreciate warm, humid conditions. A bright bathroom or kitchen with natural light is often ideal, although they also grow well in living rooms if kept away from radiators and cold draughts.

Feeding and Routine Care

Feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser during the growing season. As temperatures cool, Caladiums naturally enter dormancy and may lose their leaves. Reduce watering during this resting period and resume normal care when fresh growth appears in spring.
