Carex oshimensis 'Everlime' is a compact evergreen ornamental sedge grown for its elegant, arching foliage. Each narrow, deep green leaf is edged with a bright lime-green margin, creating a fresh, luminous effect that provides reliable colour throughout the year. Bred in Ireland as part of the renowned EverColor® Series, it is valued for its tidy habit and dependable garden performance.
Its graceful, mound-forming growth makes it an excellent choice for edging paths, brightening shaded borders, softening container displays and providing year-round structure in contemporary or woodland-inspired planting schemes. Growing Guide
Position
Grow in full sun, partial shade or shade. The foliage colour remains attractive throughout the year, making it particularly valuable for brightening shaded areas of the garden.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly when grown in containers. Avoid allowing the soil to become waterlogged.
Soil
Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It performs equally well in garden borders, patio containers and raised beds where drainage is reliable.
Hardiness and Winter Care
Fully hardy throughout Ireland (RHS H7). The evergreen foliage provides year-round interest. Rather than cutting the plant back, gently comb through the foliage in late winter or early spring to remove any damaged or weathered leaves before fresh growth begins.
Routine Care
Feed with a balanced general garden fertiliser in spring if required. Divide mature clumps every few years if they become congested to maintain healthy growth. Avoid cutting the whole plant back, as simply removing older leaves helps preserve its neat appearance.

Good to Know
Although it resembles an ornamental grass, Carex oshimensis is a sedge rather than a true grass. It forms a tidy, clump-forming habit that gradually broadens over time without producing running rhizomes, making it easy to manage while maintaining attractive evergreen foliage throughout the year.
