Growing Guide

Light

Place in bright, indirect light for the healthiest growth, although the Parlour Palm also performs well in rooms with lower natural light. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, particularly through south-facing windows, as it can scorch the delicate fronds.

Watering

Water when the top few centimetres of compost feel dry to the touch. Keep the compost lightly moist during the growing season but never waterlogged, and always allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering during winter when growth naturally slows.

Compost

Grow in a free-draining houseplant compost in a pot with good drainage. Repot only when necessary, as this palm is slow-growing and is happy to remain slightly root-bound for a period.

Humidity and Temperature

Average household humidity is usually sufficient, although occasional misting or placing the plant in a naturally humid, bright room can help keep the foliage looking its best. Maintain temperatures above 12°C and protect from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.

Feeding

Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Feeding is generally unnecessary during autumn and winter.

Routine Care
