Overview
This Cistus Mix is a colourful selection of Rock Rose varieties grown for their profusion of delicate, tissue-paper-like flowers and attractive evergreen foliage. As this is a mixed assortment, flower colour, foliage shade and plant form will vary between individual plants, while all share the same love of sunshine and free-draining conditions.
Compact, bushy and naturally resilient, Cistus shrubs are ideal for Mediterranean-style gardens, gravel planting, coastal locations and sunny mixed borders. Their long flowering season and nectar-rich blooms provide valuable food for bees and other pollinating insects, while the evergreen foliage offers year-round structure.

Growing Guide
Position
Plant in a warm, sunny position where the shrub receives plenty of direct sunlight. Cistus performs best in open, sheltered sites and is particularly well suited to coastal gardens.
Watering
Water regularly during the first growing season while establishing. Once established, plants are drought tolerant and generally require watering only during prolonged dry periods.
Soil
Grow in poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Sandy, gravelly or stony soils are ideal. Avoid heavy, waterlogged ground, particularly during winter.
Hardiness and Winter Care
Suitable for most Irish gardens provided drainage is excellent. Prolonged winter wet is more damaging than cold, so avoid poorly drained planting sites. Young plants benefit from a sheltered position until fully established.
Routine Care
Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a neat, bushy shape. Avoid cutting back into old woody stems, as regrowth may be poor. Little additional maintenance is required once established.
Perfect For

Good to Know
This is a mixed selection, so flower colour, foliage characteristics and mature size will vary depending on the variety supplied. All varieties share the same preference for full sun and excellent drainage and perform best when not overwatered or heavily fed.
