Overview
Cistus × purpureus, commonly known as the Purple Rock Rose, is a striking Mediterranean evergreen shrub prized for its vibrant summer floral display. From May through August, it produces a profusion of large papery purplish-pink flowers, each dramatically marked with a deep crimson-maroon blotch at the base of the petals surrounding golden anthers. Forming a neat, bushy mound of aromatic grey-green foliage, this compact shrub reaches approximately 1m in height and spread. It is exceptionally resilient, thriving in full sun and dry, free-draining soils where many other plants struggle.
