Coffea arabica
8cm nursery pot • Presented in a decorative coffee mug
Plant Highlights: Glossy evergreen foliage • Presented in a coffee mug planter • Compact tropical houseplant • Easy to grow indoors • Ideal gift for coffee lovers
Coffea arabica, the Arabian Coffee Plant, is an attractive evergreen houseplant grown for its glossy, deep green foliage and neat, bushy habit. Native to tropical highland forests, it makes an elegant indoor foliage plant, bringing fresh greenery and a subtle tropical character to bright living spaces throughout the year.
Presented in a decorative coffee mug, this compact plant makes a thoughtful gift and an eye-catching addition to desks, kitchen windowsills and coffee stations. While mature coffee plants can produce fragrant white flowers followed by red berries containing coffee beans, indoor plants are primarily grown for their handsome foliage and ornamental value.

Place in a bright room with plenty of indirect light. Avoid prolonged direct midday sunshine, which can scorch the foliage. A position near an east-facing window or slightly back from a south-facing window is ideal.
Keep the compost evenly moist during active growth, allowing only the surface to dry slightly before watering again. Reduce watering during winter, but do not allow the rootball to dry out completely.
Grow in a fertile, moisture-retentive but free-draining houseplant compost. Ensure the nursery pot has drainage holes and avoid leaving excess water sitting inside the decorative mug after watering.
Maintain temperatures between 18–24°C and protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C. Average household humidity is suitable, although slightly higher humidity encourages lush, healthy foliage.
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser. Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and rotate the plant every few weeks to encourage even growth towards the light.
The decorative coffee mug is intended as an outer container rather than a watering reservoir. After watering, allow the nursery pot to drain thoroughly before placing it back into the mug to help prevent excess moisture around the roots. Although Coffea arabica can eventually produce coffee cherries indoors, this usually occurs only on mature plants grown under consistently favourable conditions.
