Overview

The ChapelWood Decor Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder is a decorative hanging feeder designed to help smaller garden birds enjoy their seed without larger visitors taking over the feeding point. A sturdy powder-coated steel guardian cage surrounds the central seed feeder, restricting access for squirrels and larger birds while allowing smaller birds to feed inside the protected area.

Measuring approximately 27cm high × 17.5cm diameter, the feeder combines practical protection with attractive garden styling. Decorative dragonfly detailing on the green outer cage and an additional decorative lower rim give this model a more ornamental finish than a basic caged feeder.

Why We Love It

• Helps protect bird seed: the surrounding cage restricts access by squirrels and larger birds.

• Better access for smaller birds: creates a protected feeding area within the outer cage.

• Strong construction: the guardian cage is made from durable powder-coated steel.

• Decorative design: dragonfly details add an attractive finishing touch.

• Made for seed: the central feeder is specifically designed for suitable wild bird seed and seed mixes.

How to Use

Filling

Open the feeder and fill the central silo with a suitable wild bird seed or seed mixture. Close it securely before hanging.

Check the seed level regularly and replenish with fresh food as required. Avoid simply topping up old food if the remaining seed has become damp or spoiled.

Positioning

Hang the feeder securely from a suitable bird feeding station, sturdy branch or appropriate garden hook.

Choose a position with a clear approach for smaller birds and sufficient room for the feeder to hang freely. Placing a squirrel-resistant feeder away from fences, walls and overhanging branches that provide easy jumping points can help the protective cage work more effectively.

Cleaning & Hygiene

Regularly remove old, damp or spoiled seed and clean the feeder thoroughly. Allow it to dry completely before adding fresh food.

Keep the area beneath the feeder clear of accumulated seed husks and waste. Moving feeding positions periodically where practical can also help maintain better hygiene for visiting wild birds.

Perfect For

• Wild bird seed and suitable seed mixes

• Feeding smaller garden birds

• Gardens regularly visited by squirrels

• Helping restrict larger birds from dominating a feeder

• Hanging from bird feeding stations

• Tree branches and suitable garden hooks

• Creating a more decorative wild bird feeding area

Good to Know

The Decor Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder measures approximately 27cm high × 17.5cm diameter and weighs around 530g. Its strong powder-coated steel cage acts as a physical barrier around the central seed silo.

The cage is designed to help keep squirrels and larger birds away from the seed while allowing smaller garden birds access to the protected feeding area.

As with any physical squirrel-resistant feeder, positioning matters. Avoid placing it immediately beside easy launch points where squirrels can reach or interfere with the feeder.
