2 Litre Pot
Plant Highlights: Deep blue flower spikes with contrasting dark centres • Compact habit suited to smaller gardens • Excellent for cut flowers • Brings height and colour to summer borders
Overview
Delphinium (Magic Fountains Group) ‘Dark Blue Black Bee’ is a compact, upright herbaceous perennial that produces elegant spikes of rich deep blue flowers, each with a distinctive dark central "bee". Flowering through early to mid-summer, it adds strong vertical interest to mixed borders while attracting bees and other pollinating insects.
As part of the Magic Fountains series, this cultivar has a more compact habit than many traditional delphiniums, making it well suited to smaller gardens and larger patio containers. Its tall flower spikes are also excellent for cutting, bringing long-lasting colour indoors.

Growing Guide
Position
Plant in full sun for the best flowering. In more exposed gardens, choose a sheltered position to protect the flower spikes from strong winds.
Soil
Delphiniums perform best in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid allowing the soil to become waterlogged during winter.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season, particularly in dry weather and while the plant is becoming established. Mulching helps conserve moisture around the roots.
Support and Pruning
In exposed sites, taller flower spikes may benefit from discreet staking. Remove faded flower stems after the first flush to keep the plant tidy and encourage a possible second display later in the season.
