How to Use

Sowing Seeds

Prepare the soil or compost to a suitable texture before planting. Push the dibber vertically into the growing medium to the depth required for the seed being sown.

Withdraw the tool carefully, place the seed into the hole and cover according to the sowing instructions for the particular plant variety.

Planting Seedlings

Use the dibber to make a planting hole large enough to receive the roots of the young seedling.

Position the seedling carefully, then gently firm the surrounding soil or compost around the roots. Water as appropriate for the plant and growing conditions.

For Best Results

Use in prepared soil or compost that is sufficiently loose for the dibber to penetrate without excessive force. The tool is particularly convenient when making a series of planting holes for rows of seeds or young plants.

Good to Know

A dibber is particularly useful when you want to create consistent planting holes without disturbing more soil than necessary. It makes repetitive seed sowing and transplanting jobs quicker while helping keep planting positions neat and organised.

The Elements Dibber has an approximately 125mm × 30mm working head, paired with a compact ash wood handle for close control.

Its carbon steel head is protected by a hammer-finish coating designed to improve resistance to rust, scratches, humidity and alkalis in the soil.

Care & Storage

Remove soil and compost from the dibber after use and allow the tool to dry before storing.

Keep it in a dry, sheltered location to help preserve the carbon steel head and ash wood handle. The supplied leather strap provides a convenient way to hang the tool when not in use.
