The Spear & Jackson Elements Edging Knife is a traditional half-moon lawn edger designed to create clean, well-defined edges around lawns, beds and borders. Its strong 200mm / 8in carbon steel blade cuts into turf to help straighten untidy lawn margins and restore a crisp finish to garden edges.
Built for dependable garden use, the blade is heat treated and hardened for strength and durability, with a hammer-finish epoxy coating that improves resistance to rust, scratches, humidity and alkalis in the soil. A clear-lacquered, weatherproofed ash wood shaft provides durability, while the soft-feel grip and treaded blade make controlled edging more comfortable.

Mark out the line you want to create, particularly when forming a new straight or curved edge.
Position the half-moon blade vertically on the turf and apply controlled foot pressure to the treaded upper edge, pushing the blade into the ground.
Lift the tool, move it along the required line and repeat, slightly overlapping each cut to create a continuous edge.
Use the edging knife periodically to trim turf that has begun growing over the edge of beds and borders.
Following an existing edge makes it easy to remove unwanted turf growth and restore a crisp, defined boundary between the lawn and surrounding planting.
Edging is generally easier when the ground is moist enough for the blade to penetrate without excessive force.
For straight edges, use a garden line or straight board as a guide. For curves, mark the required shape before cutting to help achieve a smooth, consistent finish.

The Elements Edging Knife uses a traditional 200mm / 8in half-moon blade with a 32in ash wood shaft.
The treaded upper edge provides a more comfortable surface for applying foot pressure, helping the hardened carbon steel blade cut cleanly into turf and soil.
Its hammer-finish epoxy coating improves resistance to rust, scratches, humidity and alkalis in the soil, while the ash wood shaft is clear lacquered and weatherproofed for greater durability.
Remove soil, grass and other debris from the blade after use and allow the tool to dry before storage.
Store in a dry, sheltered location to help preserve the carbon steel blade and wooden shaft. Periodically inspect the blade, shaft connection and grip for wear or damage.
