Westland Ericaceous Specialist Planting Mix 46L is a specialist growing medium formulated for ericaceous and other lime-hating plants that thrive in acidic growing conditions. It is ideal for popular acid-loving plants including rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias, as well as acid-loving fruit such as blueberries.

The mix provides up to six months of slow-release nutrition to support sustained plant growth and flowering. It also contains slow-release iron, which helps maintain the acidic root environment ericaceous plants need while supporting chlorophyll production for greener, glossier foliage. An added zinc complex contributes to plant resilience and healthy root and shoot development.

Product Details

How to Use

Before Use

Rework the compost between your hands before planting to allow it to regain its intended texture.

Potting & Repotting

Water the plant thoroughly before repotting. Gently remove it from its existing container and shake away loose compost without unnecessarily disturbing the roots.

Part-fill the new container with Westland Ericaceous Specialist Planting Mix, position the plant and fill around the root ball with additional mix. Gently firm into place and water thoroughly.

Planting Out

Dig a planting hole approximately twice the depth and diameter of the root ball.

Position the plant and fill around its root system with the ericaceous planting mix. Gently firm the plant into position and water thoroughly after planting.

Aftercare

The mix contains slow-release nutrition for up to six months. If plants subsequently appear pale or develop yellowing leaves, use an appropriate supplementary feed formulated for ericaceous plants.

Deadhead spent flowers where appropriate to encourage the plant to direct energy into continued growth and flowering.
