Overview

Erigeron glaucus 'Sea Breeze'® is a compact herbaceous perennial grown for its abundance of semi-double lavender-pink to lilac-pink daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centres. Flowering from late spring into autumn, it provides a long-lasting display of colour while attracting bees and other pollinating insects throughout the season.

Growing Guide

Position

Plant in a sunny, open position for the best flowering. It thrives in borders, gravel gardens, containers and coastal gardens where it receives plenty of direct sunlight.

Watering

Water regularly while establishing. Once established, plants tolerate short dry spells, although container-grown specimens should be watered more frequently during prolonged warm weather.

Soil

Grow in well-drained soil. This variety performs particularly well in sandy, gravelly or raised planting areas where excess winter moisture drains away freely.

Hardiness and Winter Care

'Sea Breeze'® is well suited to Irish gardens provided it is planted in free-draining soil. In heavier soils, improve drainage before planting and avoid winter waterlogging around the crown. Container-grown plants should also be protected from prolonged wet winter conditions.

Routine Care

Deadhead faded flowers regularly to encourage continued blooming. Lightly trim the plant after the main flush of flowering to maintain its compact habit and encourage fresh growth.
