Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’ (PBR)

P15 Pot

Plant Highlights: Compact selection of cider gum • Attractive silvery-blue evergreen foliage • Aromatic leaves throughout the year • Ideal for smaller gardens and large containers

Overview

Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’ (PBR) is a compact, evergreen selection of cider gum, bred to offer the beautiful silvery-blue foliage of the species in a more manageable form. The rounded juvenile leaves are highly aromatic and provide year-round colour and texture, making this an excellent feature plant for modern gardens, Mediterranean-style planting and mixed borders.

Its naturally dense, upright habit makes it particularly suitable for smaller gardens where a traditional eucalyptus may become too large. The attractive foliage is also valued for fresh and dried floral arrangements.

Growing Guide

Position

Plant in a sunny, open position with good air circulation. Young plants benefit from a sheltered location while establishing, particularly in more exposed gardens.

Soil

Grow in well-drained soil. Eucalyptus performs best where excess winter moisture can drain away freely and dislikes prolonged waterlogging.

Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season to encourage strong root development. Once established, additional watering is generally only needed during extended dry spells. Container-grown plants should be monitored more frequently.

Pruning

Prune in late winter or early spring if required to maintain size or encourage bushier juvenile foliage. Remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches as necessary.

Why We Love It

  • Silvery-blue foliage provides year-round interest and contrast.
  • More compact than many traditional eucalyptus trees.
  • Aromatic leaves are excellent for fresh and dried floral arrangements.
  • A striking evergreen specimen for contemporary and informal gardens.
