With the right conditions, this reliable houseplant develops into an impressive specimen, producing large leathery leaves that create a striking focal point. Its tidy, vertical growth makes it suitable for both compact and spacious interiors.

Indoor Placement
Position in a bright room with plenty of indirect light. It will tolerate a little gentle morning or evening sun, but prolonged strong midday sunlight may scorch the foliage. Avoid cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and placing the plant close to radiators or heating vents.
Rotate the pot every few weeks to encourage balanced, even growth.
Growing Guide
Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away, then allow the top of the compost to dry before watering again. Reduce watering during winter when growth slows naturally.
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain their natural shine.
Good to Know
Like other rubber plants, Ficus elastica 'Robusta' produces a white milky latex sap if stems or leaves are damaged. This sap can irritate the skin and eyes and is toxic if ingested, so the plant should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
