Growing Guide

Light

Place in bright, indirect light to maintain compact growth and healthy foliage. Avoid prolonged harsh midday sunshine through glass and sudden changes of position.

Watering

Allow the top few centimetres of compost to begin drying before watering thoroughly. Never leave the pot standing in excess water, and reduce watering during the cooler months when growth slows.

Compost

Use a free-draining houseplant compost in a container with good drainage. Repot only when necessary, moving up one pot size while disturbing the roots as little as possible.

Routine Care

Rotate the plant occasionally for even growth and wipe the foliage with a damp cloth to remove dust. Any new shoots that disrupt the trained outline can be lightly pruned to help maintain the established shape.

Indoor Placement

Ideal for bright living rooms, home offices, conservatories and reception areas where its sculptural form can be appreciated. Keep away from cold draughts, radiators and air conditioning to provide stable growing conditions.

Why We Love It

  • The elegant S-shaped trunk creates an instant focal point.
  • Exposed roots and compact foliage give a mature bonsai-inspired appearance.
  • A long-lived specimen that brings year-round greenery indoors.
  • Adds architectural interest without requiring a large footprint.

Good to Know

Like many Ficus, this plant may shed a few leaves after being moved while it adjusts to its new surroundings. The milky sap can irritate skin and should be kept away from pets and children.
