About this product

Forsythia × intermedia 'Week-End'

3 Litre Container – Approx. 40–50cm Tall

Plant Highlights: Masses of golden-yellow spring flowers • Upright, bushy growth • Flowers before the leaves emerge • Excellent for borders and informal hedging

Overview

Forsythia × intermedia 'Week-End' is a vigorous deciduous shrub that produces a spectacular display of bright golden-yellow flowers in early spring, before its fresh green leaves emerge. The dense flowering along its upright branches provides one of the earliest bursts of colour in the garden, helping to bridge the gap between winter and spring.

Supplied in a 3-litre container at approximately 40–50cm tall, this young, well-established shrub is ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens and informal hedging. Its naturally bushy habit makes it an excellent choice for creating seasonal structure and dependable spring interest.

Growing Guide

Position

Grow in full sun for the most prolific flowering, although partial shade is also suitable. Plant in a position with well-drained soil where it has space to develop its naturally bushy habit.

Soil

Thrives in fertile, free-draining garden soil and adapts well to a wide range of soil types once established. Avoid persistently waterlogged sites.

Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a healthy root system. Once established, additional watering is generally only needed during extended dry spells.

Pruning

Prune immediately after flowering by removing a selection of the oldest stems at ground level and lightly shaping the plant if required. This encourages vigorous new growth while preserving the following year's flower display.
