Remove weeds, stones and other debris before preparing the ground.
Dig over compacted soil to approximately 20–25cm deep.
Break down large lumps, firm the ground and rake to create a flat, even seed bed.
If the soil is dry, water thoroughly the day before sowing.
Shake the box before use to mix the seed varieties evenly.
Sow at 30g per m².
Lightly rake the seed into the soil surface.
Walk over or gently roll the area to press the seed into good contact with the soil.
Water thoroughly using a fine-rose watering can or sprinkler without washing the seed away.
Mow the existing lawn closely and rake or scarify the surface to remove dead grass and expose the soil.
Sow evenly at 25g per m², lightly rake the seed into the surface and firm gently.
Water thoroughly after sowing. In dry conditions, continue watering as required to maintain soil moisture until the new grass has germinated and established.

Gro-Sure Multi-Purpose Lawn Seed is treated to significantly improve germination and quicker establishment.
Under good conditions, new grass blades can usually be seen within three weeks, although germination can take considerably longer if growing conditions are unfavourable.
For best results, soil temperature should remain consistently around 10–18°C.
Keep the seeded ground moist throughout establishment. In dry weather, water daily as necessary using a fine spray that will not disturb the seed.
Gro-Sure Multi-Purpose Lawn Seed can be sown from March to October.
Westland identifies March to May and September to October as the ideal sowing periods, when soil moisture and temperature are generally most favourable.
Keep newly seeded lawns well watered, particularly during dry weather.
Minimise traffic across the area while the young grass establishes. For overseeded lawns, keeping traffic low for approximately 7–21 days helps protect emerging grass.
For the first two or three cuts, maintain a mowing height of approximately 50mm, then gradually reduce towards approximately 25mm over the following cuts.
Do not use weedkillers or strong fertilisers on a newly established lawn. A lawn should be more than one year old before using a combined weed, feed and moss killer.
Creating new domestic lawns
Overseeding thin or tired grass
Repairing bare patches
General lawn renovation
Hard-wearing everyday lawns
Improving lawn thickness
Smaller garden lawn projects
A wide range of lawn soil types
The 10m² + 30% Extra Free designation means this promotional box contains enough seed to cover 13m² when establishing a new lawn at 30g/m².
Gro-Sure Multi-Purpose uses perennial ryegrass suitable for turf rather than annual ryegrass. Perennial turf ryegrass is finer bladed and slower growing than annual ryegrass, making it appropriate for lawn mixtures.
When overseeding after using a lawn fertiliser, Westland advises waiting approximately 3–4 days. After applying a combined feed, weed and moss killer, a wait of around four weeks is usually required, although the instructions on the treatment product should always be checked.
Seed should be sown onto the soil surface and lightly raked in, no deeper than approximately 1–2cm.
Store in a cool, dry place and use within the season of purchase.
Keep the box dry and securely closed between applications. Shake before sowing, as different seed varieties can settle during transport and storage.
