Position

Plant in a sunny position for the best flowering and foliage colour.

Watering

Water regularly during the establishment period. Once established, heathers are relatively drought tolerant but benefit from watering during prolonged dry spells, especially when grown in containers.

Soil

Grow in acidic, lime-free, well-drained soil or ericaceous compost. Avoid alkaline or chalky soils, as these are unsuitable for most heathers.

Hardiness and Winter Care

Hardy outdoors in Ireland when planted in free-draining acidic soil. Good drainage is especially important during wet winter weather.

Routine Care
