Growing Guide

Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Hebes perform best where drainage is good, particularly during winter, and benefit from a sheltered position in colder or more exposed gardens.

Water regularly during the first growing season while the plant establishes. Once established, additional watering is usually only needed during prolonged dry periods.

Wildlife

The nectar-rich flower spikes attract bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects throughout the flowering season.

Pruning

Remove spent flower spikes after flowering to encourage a neat appearance. Lightly trim the plant if required, avoiding cutting into old, leafless wood, which may not regenerate well.
