Overview

Helianthus annuus 'Sunsation' is a compact annual sunflower bred to produce an abundance of large, cheerful golden-yellow flowers with contrasting dark central discs. Its naturally branching habit creates a fuller display than traditional single-stem sunflowers, providing continuous colour from summer into autumn.

Its neat, bushy growth makes it ideal for patio containers, sunny borders and seasonal displays, bringing vibrant colour to contemporary and cottage-style gardens alike. The bold flowers are also excellent for cutting and adding to fresh floral arrangements. At maturity, plants typically reach 40–50cm in height with a spread of around 30–40cm.

Watering

Water regularly, particularly during warm weather and when grown in containers. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid prolonged waterlogging.

Soil

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Container-grown plants perform best in a quality multi-purpose compost with good drainage.

Seasonal Care

As an annual sunflower, Helianthus 'Sunsation' completes its life cycle within one growing season. Feed regularly with a balanced fertiliser during flowering and remove spent blooms to encourage continued flower production.
