Heuchera
Heuchera, commonly known as coral bells, is a compact, clump-forming perennial grown primarily for its colourful foliage. The leaves create a mound of texture at the front of borders or in containers, often complemented by slender flower spikes in late spring and summer.
After around five years of growth, this plant typically reaches: Usually 25–40 cm tall with a spread of 40–50 cm after 5 years.
Recommended compost for planting: Plant in fertile, free-draining compost with plenty of organic matter.
Key Features:
- Habit: Herbaceous perennial forming an attractive clump or spreading mound.
- Season of interest: Provides colour or foliage interest during the main growing season.
- Garden uses: Suitable for mixed borders, perennial beds, and many varieties also perform well in containers.
- Maintenance: Generally low maintenance; remove spent flowers and tidy old growth as needed.
Heuchera is a dependable choice for adding long-lasting interest and character to planting schemes.
