Overview
Howea forsteriana, commonly known as the Kentia Palm, is one of the most dependable and elegant indoor palms. Its gently arching, feathery green fronds create a relaxed, tropical feel while maintaining a refined appearance that complements both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Naturally adapted to the filtered light of forest understories, the Kentia Palm performs well in typical indoor conditions and copes with moderate light levels better than many other palm species. Slow-growing and exceptionally long-lived, it is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a timeless houseplant that will develop into an impressive specimen over the years.

Growing Guide
Position
Place in bright, indirect light for the healthiest growth, although it also performs well in moderate natural light. Avoid prolonged direct midday sunshine, which can scorch the fronds.
Watering
Water thoroughly when the top few centimetres of compost feel dry, allowing excess water to drain away completely. Reduce watering during winter as growth slows.
Compost
Grow in a quality free-draining houseplant compost in a container with good drainage.
Temperature and Humidity
Average household humidity is generally sufficient. Keep away from radiators, fireplaces and cold draughts. Occasional misting or slightly higher humidity will help keep the foliage looking its best.
Care
Feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser during spring and summer. Remove any damaged or ageing fronds at the base as required and repot only when the roots begin to outgrow the container.

Good to Know
