About this product

Hydrangea macrophylla Mix – Mophead Hydrangeas (P23 Pot)

Plant Highlights: Mixed selection of colourful mophead hydrangeas • Large, long-lasting summer flower heads • Excellent for borders and patio containers • Lush deciduous foliage • Reliable summer interest

Overview

Hydrangea macrophylla Mix is a selection of deciduous mophead hydrangeas chosen for their impressive rounded flower heads and long flowering season. As this is supplied as a mixed assortment, the flower colour and individual cultivar will vary, but each plant offers the bold blooms and attractive foliage that make mophead hydrangeas a garden favourite.

Ideal for borders, woodland-edge planting and large patio containers, these shrubs provide vibrant colour throughout summer while their lush green foliage adds texture for the rest of the growing season.

Growing Guide

Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Hydrangeas perform particularly well in partial shade but will also grow in full sun where the soil remains consistently moist.

Water regularly during dry periods, especially while plants are becoming established and when grown in containers. Apply a mulch in spring to help retain soil moisture and improve soil structure.

Wildlife

The flowers can provide a source of nectar for pollinating insects, particularly as the individual florets mature.

Pruning

Most Hydrangea macrophylla varieties flower on stems produced during the previous growing season. Remove only dead, damaged or weak stems in late winter or early spring, leaving the faded flower heads in place over winter to help protect developing buds from frost.

Why We Love It

A mixed selection offers the opportunity to enjoy the rich diversity of mophead hydrangeas without committing to a single flower colour. Their generous blooms and dependable performance make them a favourite for bringing lasting summer colour to gardens and patios.
