Plant in a sunny, open position where the soil drains freely. Lavender performs best in well-drained conditions and is less suited to heavy, waterlogged soils, particularly during winter.
Water regularly while establishing, then only during extended dry periods. Avoid overwatering, especially in containers, and feed sparingly to encourage compact, healthy growth.
The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, making this an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.
Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a neat, bushy shape. Avoid cutting into old, woody stems, as these may not produce vigorous new growth.
With its richly coloured flower spikes, fragrant foliage and compact habit, 'Essence Purple' provides months of colour while filling the garden with the classic scent of English lavender. It is equally at home in cottage gardens, contemporary planting schemes and patio containers.
Good to Know: The 2 litre pot refers to the container size at the time of sale and not the mature size of the plant. Good drainage is essential, particularly in winter, to keep lavender healthy and long-lived.
