Magnolia 'Susan'
10 Litre Container – Approx. 60–80cm
Plant Highlights: Elegant deep pink, goblet-shaped flowers • Flowers from mid to late spring • Compact habit for smaller gardens • Excellent specimen shrub
Overview
Magnolia 'Susan' is one of the most popular compact magnolias, producing masses of elegant, goblet-shaped flowers in rich reddish-purple to deep pink, with paler interiors. Flowering from mid to late spring, and often continuing with occasional blooms into early summer, it provides a spectacular display after the risk of the hardest frosts has largely passed.
Supplied in a 10-litre container at approximately 60–80cm tall, this deciduous shrub is an excellent choice for smaller gardens, mixed borders or as a feature in a lawn or courtyard. Its neat, upright habit and reliable flowering make it one of the easiest magnolias to incorporate into modern gardens.

Growing Guide
Position
Plant in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position, protected from strong winds. A location away from frost pockets will help protect developing flower buds and prolong the floral display.
Soil
Grow in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid soils that remain waterlogged during winter.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly in warm weather or if grown in a large container.
Pruning
Magnolias require very little pruning. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches after flowering if necessary, allowing the plant to retain its natural shape.
