Position

Plant in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position where the early spring flowers are protected from cold winds and late frosts where possible.

Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, water during prolonged dry spells, particularly in warmer weather or when grown in containers.

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Avoid very alkaline soils where possible and improve the planting area with organic matter before planting.
