Plant Highlights: Soft yellow tulip-shaped flowers • Upright, elegant growth • Flowers in spring before the foliage fully develops • Excellent specimen tree for gardens large and small
Magnolia 'Yellow Lantern' is a distinctive deciduous flowering tree valued for its elegant, tulip-shaped blooms in soft buttery yellow. Flowering in spring, the large blooms are carried on bare or just-emerging branches, creating a bright and sophisticated display before the fresh green foliage develops.
Supplied in a 5-litre pot at approximately 50–60cm tall, this young specimen is well suited to planting as a focal point in lawns, mixed borders or front gardens. Its upright habit makes it an excellent choice where vertical interest is desired without overwhelming the space.

Plant in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position, protected from strong winds. A site away from frost pockets will help preserve the quality of the spring flowers.
Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Incorporating organic matter before planting will encourage healthy establishment.
Keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly in warm weather.
Magnolias require very little pruning. Remove only dead, damaged or crossing branches after flowering if necessary, allowing the tree to maintain its natural shape.
The spring flowers provide an early source of pollen for pollinating insects.
