Place in bright, indirect light away from prolonged direct sunshine, which can scorch or fade the beautifully coloured foliage.
Keep the compost consistently lightly moist, allowing only the surface to begin drying before watering again. Never leave the plant standing in water or allow the compost to dry out completely.
Grow in a free-draining, moisture-retentive houseplant compost in a pot with good drainage to maintain healthy roots.
Prayer Plants thrive in warm rooms with higher humidity. Bright bathrooms and kitchens with natural light are excellent locations, or humidity can be increased with a pebble tray if indoor air is particularly dry. Protect from cold draughts and keep temperatures above 15°C.
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser at the recommended rate. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter.
Wipe the leaves occasionally with a soft damp cloth to remove dust and keep the foliage looking its best. Repot when the plant becomes congested using fresh houseplant compost.
