Overview
Pilea peperomioides, commonly known as the Chinese Money Plant or Pancake Plant, is a popular indoor plant recognised for its perfectly rounded, glossy green leaves held on slender upright stems. Its clean, architectural shape suits both contemporary and traditional interiors, while its compact habit makes it ideal for shelves, desks and windowsills.
As the plant matures, it often produces small offsets (commonly called pups) from the base, which can be separated and grown into new plants. Its simple care requirements and distinctive appearance have made it a favourite for both new and experienced houseplant enthusiasts.

Growing Guide
Place in bright, indirect light for the healthiest growth. Some gentle morning or evening sun is usually well tolerated, but prolonged strong midday sunshine can scorch the leaves.
Water thoroughly when the surface of the compost feels dry, then allow excess water to drain away. Avoid leaving the pot sitting in water, as consistently wet compost can lead to root problems. Turn the plant every week or two to encourage even growth towards the light.
Indoor Placement
This plant grows well in bright living rooms, kitchens and home offices with plenty of natural light. It can also thrive in a bright bedroom, provided it is positioned away from radiators and cold draughts.
Good to Know
As plants mature, the lower leaves naturally age and are replaced by fresh growth at the top. Healthy plants often produce offsets around the base, which can be removed and potted on to create new plants.
