Plant in partial shade in fertile, humus-rich, acidic soil with good drainage. Rhododendrons dislike waterlogged conditions but benefit from soil that remains evenly moist, particularly while establishing and during dry spells.
Apply a mulch of leaf mould, composted bark or other ericaceous organic matter each spring to help retain moisture and maintain suitable soil conditions. Avoid lime-rich soils, as these shrubs perform best in acidic conditions.
The spring flowers provide nectar for bees and other pollinating insects.
Rhododendrons bring dramatic spring colour and dependable evergreen structure to the garden. A mixed selection offers the opportunity to enjoy a range of flower colours while providing the same reliable performance in suitable growing conditions.
Good to Know: The stated 60–70 cm refers to the approximate height of the plant at the time of sale and not its mature size. As this is a mixed selection, individual plants will vary in flower colour, flowering time and eventual habit. Only characteristics common to all hybrid rhododendrons in the mix are described.
