Sanguisorba 'Pink Brushes'

2 Litre Pot

Plant Highlights: Elegant soft pink flower heads • Long flowering season • Graceful, airy habit • Excellent for pollinators and naturalistic planting

Overview

Sanguisorba 'Pink Brushes' is a graceful herbaceous perennial that produces slender stems topped with soft, bottlebrush-like pink flower heads from mid-summer into autumn. Floating above finely divided green foliage, the blooms add movement and a light, airy quality to borders, blending beautifully with ornamental grasses and other late-season perennials.

Its naturalistic habit makes it particularly well suited to prairie-style and cottage gardens, while the long-lasting flowers are also excellent for cutting. The delicate blooms continue to provide interest well into autumn as they fade naturally.

Growing Guide

Position

Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that remains evenly moist. It performs particularly well in borders with consistent moisture and is equally at home in naturalistic planting schemes.

Watering

Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry periods. Plants perform best where the soil does not dry out completely in summer.

Soil

Plant in fertile, humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Incorporating organic matter before planting will encourage healthy growth and prolonged flowering.

Pruning

Remove spent flower stems if a tidier appearance is preferred, or leave them in place to extend seasonal interest. Cut old growth back to ground level in late winter or early spring before new shoots emerge.
