Growing Guide

Position

Place in bright, indirect light for the strongest growth and most vibrant leaf colour. It also tolerates lower light levels, making it suitable for many areas of the home. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense midday sun.

Watering

Allow the compost to dry out completely before watering again. Reduce watering during the winter months and never leave the pot standing in water, as excess moisture can lead to root rot.

Feeding

Feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser during spring and summer. Little or no feeding is required during winter when growth slows naturally.

Indoor Placement

An excellent choice for living rooms, home offices, bedrooms and hallways with natural light. Its larger size makes it particularly effective as a floor-standing feature in spacious interiors.

Why We Love It

  • Bold variegated foliage creates an instant focal point.
  • Extremely forgiving and ideal for busy lifestyles.
  • Tolerates a wide range of indoor conditions.
  • Slow-growing and long-lived with minimal maintenance.

Good to Know

The thick leaves store water, allowing the plant to cope well with occasional missed waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems, so it's always better to err on the side of keeping the compost too dry rather than too wet.
