Growing Guide

Position

Plant in partial shade or full shade, where the foliage remains fresh and the flower buds develop their richest colour. Shelter from cold, drying winds where possible.

Soil

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Skimmia performs best in acidic to neutral conditions and is well suited to woodland-style planting. If growing in containers, use an ericaceous compost.

Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season and during extended dry spells, particularly for container-grown plants. Avoid allowing the compost to dry out completely.
