Plant Highlights: Mixed selection of evergreen skimmias • Decorative flower buds followed by fragrant spring blooms • Glossy foliage for year-round interest • Ideal for shady borders and containers • Excellent for acid-loving gardens
Skimmia japonica Mix is a mixed selection of evergreen skimmias, valued for their neat, glossy foliage and attractive clusters of flower buds that open in spring. Supplied with 4–5 flower clusters, these plants provide immediate seasonal interest, while their compact habit makes them ideal for gardens where year-round structure is important.
As this is a mixed selection, individual plants may vary in flower bud colour, flower colour and, where applicable, whether they are male or female plants. Only characteristics common to all plants in the mix are described.
Supplied in a 9 cm pot, these compact shrubs are well suited to woodland gardens, shaded borders and patio containers.

Plant in partial or full shade in fertile, humus-rich soil that retains moisture while draining freely. Skimmias perform best in acidic to neutral soils and appreciate a yearly mulch of composted bark or leaf mould to help conserve moisture and improve soil structure.
Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells, particularly when grown in containers.
The fragrant spring flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects.
Skimmias provide reliable year-round structure with glossy evergreen foliage and attractive flower buds that brighten the garden through the colder months before opening in spring. Their compact size makes them equally useful in borders and containers.
Good to Know: The 9 cm pot refers to the container size at the time of sale and not the mature size of the plant. As this is a mixed selection, individual plants may be male or female and will vary in flower colour and ornamental characteristics. Berry production cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on the specific plant supplied and the presence of a compatible pollinator nearby.
