Overview

Skimmia japonica (Japanese skimmia) is a slow-growing, shade-loving broadleaf evergreen shrub valued for multi-season appeal. It features aromatic dark green foliage and clusters of scented creamy-white flowers in spring, with female plants capable of producing persistent glossy red berries if pollinated. Supplied as a selection of cultivars, individual plants may vary in bud colour, leaf variegation and growth habit, but all thrive in moist, humus-rich, acidic soil in shady positions.

Why We Love It
