Traditional cut flower and cottage garden favourite, producing single stemmed showy spikes of wonderfully fragrant, large, double flowers closely spaced on strong stems. A beautiful shade of rose pink, with a delicious clove-like scent.
Sow 6mm (1/4in) deep into moist well-drained seed compost and place into a propagator at 16-19ºC (61-68˚F), or onto a sunny windowsill. Do not exclude light as this is beneficial to germination, which takes 10-14 days.
Grow on in cooler conditions, ideally 13-18°C (54-66˚F) and transplant into individual pots when large enough to handle. Acclimatise and plant out after all danger of frost has passed at 30cm (12in) spacings. Can also be sown outside where they are to flower in late spring. Plants may need a little support with short canes when flowering.
