Plant Highlights: Highly fragrant star-shaped flowers • Evergreen glossy foliage • Twining climber for walls and trellises • Attractive bronze-red winter foliage
Overview
Trachelospermum jasminoides, commonly known as Star Jasmine, is an elegant evergreen climber grown for its glossy foliage and richly fragrant white flowers. From summer into early autumn, clusters of star-shaped blooms are produced against a backdrop of deep green leaves, filling the surrounding area with a sweet perfume.
This self-twining climber is ideal for training over trellises, pergolas, fences and warm walls, where it provides year-round structure and seasonal colour. During colder weather, the evergreen foliage often develops attractive bronze and reddish tones, adding further interest through autumn and winter.

Growing Guide
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. A warm, sheltered site, particularly against a south- or west-facing wall, encourages the best flowering and protects the plant from cold, drying winds.
Water regularly during the first growing season while the root system establishes. Once established, it requires little additional watering except during prolonged dry periods. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and mulch with organic matter to help retain soil moisture.
Pruning
Prune after flowering to control size and maintain a neat shape. Tie in young shoots to their support as they develop, removing any damaged or overcrowded stems as required.
Wildlife
The fragrant flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects during the flowering season.
